Immediate Expansion goals: KGFN is currently authorized by the Federal Communications Commission to operate at 100 watts. In October of 2007 we are going to file with the FCC for the 1-week only window for higher power Educational Channels. We have been approached by Lotus Communications Inc. to do the FCC, Frequency Search, and Lotus Communications Inc donated Engineering a $5,000 cost. We were also offered Tower space on Columbia Mountain, by Arizona-Nevada Tower (a new Cell tower provider). The only immediate cost to KGFN will be Microwave equipment and a New FM Transmitter to go up on the mountain of Approximately $15,000 to $20,000. This expansion should allow us to cover just south of Hawthorne, NV to Beatty, NV., Approximately a 3 hours travel time, giving motorist information while traveling on SR 95, the main artery connecting Las Vegas to the State Capitol . We will maintain our current transmitting location for backup, in case of winter snow outages on Columbia Mountain.
